The
original Pooh was an Alpha
Farnell Bear bought from the toy department of Harrods in
Knightsbridge, London in 1921, as a first birthday gift for
Christopher.
In
1947 the original toys Pooh , Piglet Bigger, Eeyore and Kanga
went on a tour of the USA. They toured the USA visiting libraries
and department stores. They ended up in Duttons Books offices
and then in 1987 they were presented to the New York Public
library. Where thay have been kept in a glass cage ever since.
The New York Public library claim that they are as happy as
they were when living in the Ashdown Forest England ! If they
actually asked Pooh I am sure that he would not agree with
that statement.
Pooh and his Friends want to come back home to England where
they belong.
Pooh
turned into a cartoon
In 1966 Disney made Winnie the Pooh and Friends into a cartoon
film. The spirit of the original stories was lost. Piglet
was replaced by something called a gopher and all the characters
spoke with american accents. Piglet was included in the following
Pooh cartoon but the gopher and other aspects remained. Winnie
the Pooh has become even more popular than Disneys own original
cartoon mouse Mickey.
Pooh now makes billions of dollars for Disney every year.
Pooh
began life in rural England in 1926 and is now famous throughout
the world.
He is the epitomy of friendship and love, which our world
needs so very much.
Long
Live Winnie the Pooh !
